Two Years in the Making ~ Spell x Kylie Caldwell
After two years of working together, our collaboration with Kylie Caldwell, incredibly talented First Nations artist and Bundjalung woman has finally gone out into the world, and we are so immensely proud and grateful to Kylie for walking this road with us. We feel more grateful still, for the outpouring of support and celebration for Kylie’s work!
To mark the launch of our collaboration featuring Kylie’s work A Beautiful Chaos we worked with Kylie on what a special event would mean to her. From location, to entertainment, to guestlist, our collaboration with Kylie as creative director continued.
The location? In Lismore, our neighbouring town still getting on it’s legs after the 2022 Flood, at the beautiful First Nations owned gallery in the heart of the town, Timbré - a beautiful blank canvas recently re-opened was the perfect space to house the work of Kylie’s multidisciplinary talents: weaving, ceramics, paintings for all to see, and the clothing integrated into beautiful sculptured floral installations and the joining of our communities to celebrate it.
We were welcomed to Widjabul Land by Jenny Smith and traditional dance performance by the Nini Nhari Gali Dance Group, it was incredible to see them move in Kylie’s print.
The evening really was an exceptional celebration, with a mix of our community from Kylie’s family and friends to local MPs, influencers, musicians, artists, and likeminded brands. We all came together to celebrate a collaboration that will always hold a special place in our hearts here at Spell.

With thanks to:
Aunty Jenny Smith
