Our Oasis Media Launch event, captured by James Ambrose

The event from the perspective of Lucy Ewing, our Events Manager {and creator of all of the amazing setups you see on Insta!}:

From the moment I laid eyes on Oasis I was dreaming up a summer escape – the beautiful palette of muted turquoises, pops of buttery yellows, and neutral 70’s inspired prints epitomises poolside glamour and was calling to be celebrated under the sun.

It had been a long time (two years!!) since we hosted the media in Byron, so for our Resort ’18 collection we extended an invitation to our coastal home to share in a few of our favourite pastimes and celebrate Oasis, Byron style.

To kick off the mid-week escape, we took our guests to their hotel where we had transported our shipping-container-turned-store to see the collection first hand and play dress ups for the days ahead! We loved seeing everyone fall in love with Oasis, and had some special surprises up our bell sleeves ~ scrunchies from Oasis off cuts, Kester Black nail polishes in the collection colours and Lack of Colour hats and accessories to style with their outfits.

Next stop – sunset soiree and movie night under the stars. Gathering inspiration from our incredible campaign,  I found the most Palm Springs style house Byron has to offer. As soon as I saw the 20th century style abode, perched at the waters edge of Wategos, with the perfect crazy tile courtyard and decor to match, I knew it was the setting for this event.

I had so much fun with this theme and really wanted to transport our guests to a time bygone ~ from the 1962 Holden parked in the driveway, to the DJ spinning 70’s vinyls, and the Frangelico sours and champagne served in vintage coupes. White wire stools, and laid back deck chairs set the scene for our movie night, and as guests arrived and the sun began to set, pods of dolphins and whales graced us with a spectacular show just a stones throw away! It was truly magic, and albeit a turn of weather that cut the movie short we spent hours snuggled up on couches, eating popcorn and chocolate and watching dirty dancing (Isabella’s favourite!) under the sparkle of the lights and stars.

The next day we wanted to treat our guests to a beautiful hinterland lunch, and have been obsessing over this house for so ages so knew it was the one! We started with a creative workshop with incredible local artist Jai Vasicek, where guests painted a water colour tile complete with their star sign (I’m an Aries, could you tell?!) to take home as a keepsake from their trip. We have always loved carving out time in our busy lives to create something purely for the joy of adding a little more beauty into our lives – so wanted to share this feeling with our guests and give them some time to relax and connect.

Lunch was initially set overlooking the striking view, but some unexpected winds picked up so we asked our guests if they’d prefer to sit in a more sheltered area (it was a unanimous YES!) and we relocated mid event! Pretty much the last thing you want to do as an events manager is rearrange the setting while it’s happening, but I think it’s always so important to be flexible and continuously changing the flow of the event based on the vibe, and moving the table was definitely the best decision for the day.

Luckily the house has so many beautiful areas and the courtyard was just as stunning as the deck, so we dined here on an unforgettable mediterranean spread (I’m still dreaming of the mushroom risotto!) complete with oysters and Aperol spritz.

All in all it was an amazing few days and we loved sharing the collection in this way. We hope we instilled a feeling of breezy summer days, lounging poolside with a cocktail in hand and you’re just as excited for Oasis to launch as we are! Stay tuned to see the full campaign, with the collection available this Thursday, 4th October at 10am AEST.
